I have been eyeing a really cool class on novel writing being offered by UC Berkeley Online. One one hand, I totally have better things to do with $525 (which, bad as this sounds, is pretty cheap for college credits) and I am scared my classmates might steal my ideas, but on the other, the program is world-famous, there is probably a lot I could learn from a published author, and I bet I’d have fun. Screw that 100K already spent on a BS in Business.
Decisions decisions.
An aspiring novelist too, I take novel writing classes thru UCLA Extension. My experience is that it really helps me to keep writing since there are deadlines involved. Plus, it is great to have regular critiques. My class costs about the same as the Berkeley one you are looking at, but well worth it. And the students in my classes are too busy workin on their own novels to have any interest in stealing mine. But I hear you on the $$$ … after a B.B.A. and M.A. in print journalism, I’m kind of tapped out too!
